This biodigester is for a family in the Shiroles area in Costa Rica. The biodigester creates methane gas mainly for cooking, and once built, is 100% self-sustaining with farm animal manure (cows & pigs).

The estimated cost per biodigester is $300.

Biodigester progress

The biodigester is in place and ready to start “feeding” with manure. The family will start adding manure soon- they look forward to using the gas for cooking and using the liquid bi-product for fertilizing their plantain plants.
